This is an image of a nueron with synapses firing. Every blue and red spark is literally a thought. Doesn't it look like those pictures from the Hubble telescope of galaxies being born? Maybe all we are is thoughts in a veerrry large brain.

Oh wow. I can't stop staring at that image, just trying to comprehend the fact that those are thoughts. And then I start to laugh, because I'm thinking about thinking. :)
